Rādhārāṇī Braja Yatra 2012: Day 13:
Gangeral,Viharvan,Varuni-kuṇḍa, Kasrot,Tapovan

Today we came to Gangeral village. Yesterday we were at Echa Dauji which is also Ramghat.

This morning we reached Viharvan. The yatra contributed around 27,000 rupees to the Viharvan Gośala. This place has been saved so far By God’s Grace. At one time 100 crores of gopis and Kṛṣṇa had Their rasa lila here.

Bābā Śrī recites the pranam mantra for Varuni Kund.

Rādhārāṇī came to this place of Varuni kuṇḍa with Kṛṣṇa. Varunadeva gave varuni there for both of Them and the gopis. Varunadeva himself produced this varuni and gave it to the Group. This is why this place is called Varuni kuṇḍa. The offense for drinking intoxication is destroyed by taking ācamana here.

From that kuṇḍa, we went to Kasrot through Bhimgadhi. There Śrī Kṛṣṇa brought Akshayvat or Yoga Pitha according to the Brahmā Samhita. This is the tree, which came from Goloka. It came here as Akshayvatvan. This same tree is in Goloka. People pray and worship under this tree.

Then we reached Tapovan. Now it is not a forest but it used to be a big vana, Lakṣmī’s talents were deteriorating, so she came here to perform some austerities. There is also this Viṣṇu kuṇḍa. Some people say Lakṣmīji performs her austerities in Belvan, but according to Panchadhyayi, to get the dust from Radha-Kṛṣṇa’s lotus feet, to destroy her sins, she came here.

Now Lakṣmī, who is Sati herself, so how can she commit a sin? However it is stated both in the Rasa Panchadhayayi and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.

When Śrī Kṛṣṇa is in Braja, He doesn’t want, aiśvarya, he is interested only in madhurya. He acts like a common villager. He is actually called a vanchar, a down to earth forest person.

Even Brahmā got confused when he saw Śrī Kṛṣṇa with His friends having a meal together at the cow herding time. The Lord eats from His friend’s plates and even the food that was in His friend’s mouth. His friend is not even clean, but He relishes that, this is His pure love.

Rama also had berries from Shabari which, were eaten by her even though He was a Matyada Purushotam. He enjoyed this even more than the palace cooked food. Again the reason is just love. God does not mind eaten or half eaten food as long as there is a loverelation.

God says I always walk after my devotees. He is especially attracted to His Mirpeksh devotees, who don’t want anything, who are calm, and have no desires and are always doing harinama, looking at all in a respectful way.

Kṛṣṇa says, “I always daily walk behind them. Why? So that their dust from their feet can come to Me. That’s how I become God.”

In the Rāmāyaṇa it says:

more man prabhu as vishvasa
ram te adhik ram kar dasa

When Durvāsā went to God to be saved from the Sudarśana Cakra, the Lord told him that “I am not able to do anything.” Durvāsā said, “How can that be?” The Lord replied, “I am dependent on My devotees. I have no freedom, for My devotees have stolen My heart and I am always depending on them. I do what ever they want.”

Here is the proof, when God went to Bhīṣma at the time of death, Bhīṣma tells Kṛṣṇa, “Stay and stand there till I leave my body.” Śrī Kṛṣṇa stayed there till that time and says, “My devotee, even if they give a flower, leaf, or water, anything, I will accept it.”

That’s why Lakṣmī came here to be freed of her sin of aiśvarya.

What is Braja lila? Here glorification is the perfection in personalism. She performs tapasya here at Visnu kunda.

The Garga Samhita and Brahmā Vaivarta Purāṇa both have different stories about Chir ghat.

With the Rāma avatar, the girls were astonished by Rāmas beauty but could not have Him as their husband. They became gopis here, the Mithila ladies, and so many others.

When they saw Him, they said that millions of Kāmadeva could not compare to His beauty. All the demigods are also less attractive. Even Lord Viṣṇu might be beautiful but He has four arms. Madhurya is always in a human form, like Brahmā can not have madhurya.

That’s why in Braja Kṛṣṇa has two hands and Dvārakā’s Kṛṣṇa has four hands.

hamaro murli waro shyam

How beautiful he is, so simple and yet so stunning. The One who loves the cows, Who eats grass and runs after cows, Lakṣmī keeps following Him.

Śiva may have one face and two hands, but not the right attire for he has snakes, jata (long hairs) and skeleton skulls as a garland.

When Śiva was to get married, mother Pārvatī goes to welcome Śiva. She thought how handsome he would be. But when she sees all the snakes, she becomes so afraid for her daughter.

In the Garga Samhita, all those ladies who wanted to marry Rāma, He said, “I can only have one wife, but at the end of Dvāpara-yuga, I can fulfill your wish.”

Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s gopis were of two kinds, married and unmarried. They were all born here and thesegopis were in the Chira Haran lila. That is the place we went to today. He stole all their clothes and went onto the kadamba tree, where they had placed their clothes. Why did He do that? He wanted to be easily seen, so in this way there should not be anything in between pure lovers.

In the Brahmā Vaivarta Purāṇa, Kṛṣṇa said, “Gopis, you have committed an offense to Varuna deva by going into the water without clothes, but now you are purified so your vrata will be complete. Now you can come to the Rasa lila.” They had prayed to Goddess Kātyāyanī, and now their wish was fulfilled.

Some people think that this lila of Kṛṣṇa’s isnot right, but Kṛṣṇa says that, “The gopis that come, love me.” He gives the example of seeds, “When you take from the field and soak and cook, then after that you can not grow any plant. Similarly for one who loves Me, doesn’t get worldly passionate love, they get pure love for Me.” SB 10.22.26

dṛḍhaṁ pralabdhās trapayā ca hāpitāḥ
prastobhitāḥ krīḍana-vac ca kāritāḥ
vastrāṇi caivāpahṛtāny athāpy amuṁ
tā nābhyasūyan priya-saṅga-nirvṛtāḥ

Although the gopīs had been thoroughly cheated, deprived of their modesty, ridiculed and made to act just like toy dolls, and although their clothing had been stolen, they did not feel at all inimical toward Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Rather, they were simply joyful to have this opportunity to associate with their beloved.

Kṛṣṇa said, “I came when you were not aware and took all your clothes away, I talked with you and made you come out of the water, but you also listened and did what I said.”

In the Brahmā Vaivarta Purāṇa, the gopis went to Kātyāyanī to perform a vrata to have Kṛṣṇa as their husband. In the Samaveda, they prayed to Goddess Durgā for this boon.

Brahmā once prayed to Durgā with her 8 names and she gave him a Kṛṣṇa kavaca. She said, “Kṛṣṇa will protect you.” At that time because of the Kṛṣṇa kavaca he was protected.

When Śiva was fighting with Tripurāsura, he fell down and at this time Brahmā gave this kavaca to Śiva. After doing that Durgā also appeared and empowered Śiva, he then killed Tripurāsura.

The gopis performed their vrata for one month and every day they would offer sweets in the puja of Durgā. But Kṛṣṇa still stole the clothes and they could not find them and they started to cry. Kṛṣṇa then said, “That means your Goddess did not protect you. How come I got your clothes?” Rādhārāṇī was also there but She did not come out and said, “I will win you by arādhāna.” The gopis said, “At least give us our things in order to perform puja, we are always yours.”

Rādhārāṇī prayed with such nice words to Kṛṣṇa and stood there. After that She saw Kṛṣṇa everywhere, from the smallest to the larger things, then they got their clothes.

Again it says in the Brahmā Vaivarta Purāṇa that whom ever recites this prayer of Rādhārāṇī, will attain Rādhārāṇī. Even Durgā was praying to Rādhārāṇī in a very big way. Durgā then disappears and Śrī Kṛṣṇa comes and asks Rādhārāṇī to ask for something. Rādhārāṇī asks, “To always be beloved by Śrī Kṛṣṇa.”The gopis asked, “How is it that Rādhārāṇī is so loved by You? We also want to become Your lovers.” He said, “So it will be, Tathastu!”

Then there was a maha rasa in Charit for one month.

The moral of all this, “One who prays to me with such devotion will not get the false feeling of bodily passion.”
