Sri Ramanyan in one shlok

ādau rāma tapovanāni gamanaṁ hatvā mṛgaṁ kāñcanaṁ
vaidehī haraṇaṁ jaṭāyu maraṇaṁ sugrīva sambhāṣaṇam
bālī nirdalanaṁ samudra taraṇaṁ laṅkā-purī dāhanaṁ
paścād rāvaṇa kumbhakarṇa hananaṁ etad-dhi rāmāyaṇam

"In the beginning is the departure of Rāma to the forests, then the killing of the golden dear, then the kidnapping of Vaidehī (Sītā), the death of Jaṭāyu, then the conversation with Sugrīva. Then is the slaughter of Bālī, the crossing over of the ocean [by Hanumān], the burning of Laṅkā. Finally is the slaughter of Rāvaṇa and Kumbhakarṇa. This indeed is Rāmāyaṇa."
