Appearance

Sri Rupa Goswamiji writes in Sri Lalita Madhav that King of the Vindhyachal hills had performed austerities to have 2 daughters who would marry the Supreme personality of Godhead – Sri Krsna. So by intense prayers, finally Lord Brahma asked Yogmaya to transfer the daughters of King Chandrabhahu’s wife and King Vrishabhanu’s wife (both brothers) into the womb of Vindhyachal’s wife….thus Srimati Radharani and Srimati Chandravaliji appeared as daughters of King of Vindhyachal. But Putna kidnapped them (Kamsa had ordered to kill all male child and kidnap female child). But the chief priest of Vindhyachal hills saw Putna flying with kidnapped children and he chanted some mantras which would kill the demons. So Putna got frightened and she dropped the first baby in a river current (Srila Rupa Goswami writes that Maharaj Bhismaka found the child and took her to his city. From there Jambavanji, who lives in caves of Sri Giri Govardhanji kidnapped the child and brought to Vrindvan). When Sri Krsna killed Putna, Sri Paurnamasi took Sri Radharani and five other girls from Putna’s lap and placed them in different places in Vrindavan. She gave Radharani to Mukhara (Kirtida’s Maiya’s mother and mother Yashoda’s nurse)….and told her that this is your son-in-law’s (Maharaj Vrishbhanu) daughter (you will find some other accounts of Srimati Radharani’s appearance also as this pastime has happened many many times).

The other five girls are – Srimati Radharani’s friend Sri Lalita Sakhi, Sri Chandravaliji’s friend Padma Sakhi, …and the Gopis Bhadra, Saibya, and Shyama.

Srimati Radha Rani ki Jai !!! Sri Shyamdarji ki Jai !!!

Radhe meri swamini, mein Radhe jiu ko das,
janam janam mohe dijoyo, Sri Vrindavan ko vas

(Srimati Radharani is my master (Swamini) and I am Her servant…so being merciful on your servant O Radhe! please give me residence in Vrindavan. Srimati Radharani is Vrajeshwari…the Queen of Vrindavan…without Her permission or mercy, no one can stay in Vrindavan)

Radha Radha naam ko, jo apno mukh let
tako sundar Savro, jat apno kar let

(Who ever keeps chanting ‘Radhe Radhe’, most beautiful Sri Shyamsundar becomes pleased on that person and makes that person His own.

Simrati Radharani is full of qualities which are pleasing to Sri Krsna (definition of a devotee). They are described nicely in Sri Chaitanya Charitamritam.

CC Madhya 23.86: "Similarly, Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī has unlimited transcendental qualities, of which twenty-five are principal. Śrī Kṛṣṇa is controlled by these transcendental qualities of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī.

CC Madhya 23.87-91: "’Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī’s twenty-five chief transcendental qualities are: (1) She is very sweet. (2) She is always freshly youthful. (3) Her eyes are restless. (4) She smiles brightly. (5) She has beautiful, auspicious lines. (6) She makes Kṛṣṇa happy with Her bodily aroma. (7) She is very expert in singing. (8) Her speech is charming.
