Why is Lala Shyamsundar

The Gopis out of love for Sri Krsna, drink Him through their eyes…eyes which are anointed with freshly made kajal (the Gopis put kajal for the pleasure of Sri Krsna)…due to this when Sri Krsna enters through Sri Gopijan’s eyes…He is smeared with their kajal…that is why Sri Krsna who is sitting in Sri Gopijan’s heart look very blackish…due to kajal of Gopis. And these Gopis, they drink both Lala Lali together and thus Sri Krsna in their heart look like ghan (dark cloud complexion) and damini (lightning) like SriSri Banke Bihariji Maharaj….

When Gopis cry, their kajal get smeared….but it is love of Sri Krsna which is coming out of their heart, overflowing from their heart…since it residing at the same place as Sri Krsna (in their heart)…it has assumed blackish complexion due to prolonged association with Sri Krsna…thus it comes out in the form of black tears.

Sri Krsna’s beauty is unlimited but it increases when He sees Srimati Radharani and Sri Gopijan.

tāhāra upara bhrūdhanu-nartana

terache netrānta bāṇa, tāra dṛḍha sandhāna,

vindhe rādhā-gopī-gaṇa-mana

SYNONYMS

bhūṣaṇera — of the ornament; bhūṣaṇa — the ornament; ańga — the limbs of the body; tāheń — that feature; lalita — delicate; tri-bhańga — bent in three places; tāhāra upara — above that; bhrū-dhanu-nartana — dancing of the eyebrows; terache — crooked; netra-anta — the end of the eye; bāṇa — arrow; tāra — of that arrow; dṛḍha — strong; sandhāna — fixing; vindhe — pierces; rādhā — of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī; gopī-gaṇa — of the gopīs also; mana — the minds.

TRANSLATION

“Ornaments caress that body, but the transcendental body of Kṛṣṇa is so beautiful that it beautifies the ornaments He wears. Therefore Kṛṣṇa’s body is said to be the ornament of ornaments. Enhancing the wonderful beauty of Kṛṣṇa is His three-curved style of standing. Above all these beautiful features, Kṛṣṇa’s eyes dance and move obliquely, acting like arrows to pierce the minds of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī and the gopīs. When the arrow succeeds in hitting its target, their minds become agitated.
